It isn’t often in life that a man intrigues us so much that the desire to connect with him is like a magnetic pull straight from the heart.

It doesn’t interest me how old you are.
I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love….

The Invitation, Oriah

It isn’t often in life that a man intrigues us so much that the desire to connect with him is like a magnetic pull straight from the heart. When this pull is powerful enough, the risk of looking like a fool is eclipsed, reducing its voice to a mere murmur of warning “How will I look?” “What will he think?”

I recently felt this pull so strongly that I risked looking like a fool, overriding my usual reserve and plunging in with a bold act. While the desire urged me on, the murmur of fear and doubt whispered in my ear “Are you sure you want to risk this?” The whispered question fought to be heard  as my heart continued to be pulled in his direction. With a deep breath I spoke, wondering still “Will he be interested?” But alas! He is! Oh the joy in finding an equal response. My heart opens; it blooms and feels full again. The whisper is silenced. Ahhhh…. Love risked is always fraught with fear and doubt, but love found fills the heart with joy. When we discover this connection, when we hold this joy, life shimmers and vibrates. Would I risk again? “Yes!” for finding love, deeply loving, is a gift.  And that gift is not one I ever want to miss.

What will you risk for love?
